Wind speed tends to remain largely similar across the globe until we reach 60 degrees North. Around there we observed large jumps in wind speed including the maximum speed observed at about 60 mph as well as other high values between 40 and 50 mph. Due to the lack of vegetation and large structures as a whole at latitudes that high, there is very little resistance for the wind to slow it down which likely caused such high values. The winds were also likely further strengthened by the amount of water at this latitude.
